Leon’s record is a two-bar steel guitar spotlight. It can retain other instruments; the grain stretching is experimental.

Key changes and song selections join at a bar boundary. Form shapes New Tunes.

FIDDLE SOUND

Songs vary bow strokes by note length. Keys start with a held bow.

Then keeps the tone you choose here.

Choose a fiddle voice while the band plays, or hear a held note while stopped. The saw fiddle has a 60 ms bow attack, tracked high/low filters and delayed vibrato. Now can bring in more analogue colour. The microphone-recorded archtop plays short rolled quarter-note chords; piano adds offbeats; upright walks beneath the lead. Acoustic fiddle blends short strokes into held bows as notes lengthen.

Play Bob gives you the calls in pages of sixteen, also played with 1–8 and Q–I. Bring players in and out while the tune rolls. Push Now from the dance hall to the dancefloor: electric guitar, sliding acid bass, synth chords and arpeggios, harder drums and a pumping groove, call a stop-time break, or play a steel lick on the little keyboard. New tune waits for the next bar; Leon plays the complete written feature when it fits, then hands the tune back. Late requests use a shorter original solo.
